About Harald Joergens

Harald Joergens is a fine art photographer based near Redhill in Surrey, specialized in shooting for large scale, Fine Art Prints, and publication.

Harald learned the basics of photography and darkroom work in his four years at a German boarding school, using medium format film cameras.

After studying Applied Physics, he spent many years in computer software development, especially digital image processing from its infancy onwards - scanning, displaying, scaling, manipulating, transmitting and early digital printing.

Moving from photography on film to early digital cameras, his main focus was using the then available hardware and software for scanning and archiving his film and slide collection, and learning digital restoration of very old and damaged photos, negatives, and slides.

At the time, even with a fully colour-calibrated workflow, creating high quality prints was still not only very expensive, it was just not good enough and a constant challenge to push the boundaries towards better print results.

With digital photography and printing maturing, Harald worked for a few years with excellent professional print studios in London.

It was, however, the investment in a high-end, large format inkjet printer that allowed Harald to get closer to reaching his long term goal - to cover the whole workflow from photography to creating stunning fine art prints.

With clients in mind who expect and demand the highest quality in photography and prints, Harald went fully professional in 2011. In July 2011, the Royal Photographic Society awarded him a distinction for his work and he is now working at pushing the boundaries further.
